Click Releases Statement Following DeWine Executive Order
State Representative Gary Click (R-Vickery) has released the following statement Friday on Governor Mike DeWine’s executive order banning sex-reassignment surgeries for minors:
“I am cautiously optimistic about the governor's ban on sex reassignment surgeries for minors today. The SAFE Act will not be in effect until ninety days after the Senate overrides the veto on Jan. 24. That would leave children vulnerable for the next three months and his decision provides instant protection. Minors are too young to calculate the extensive risks and comprehend the likely possibility of future regret. Despite the governor’s claim to the contrary, these surgeries are occurring in Ohio on a regular basis and should only be available to adults who are fully capable of evaluating the hazards associated with them...."

Op-Ed: Learn the Difference Between a Yes and No Vote on Issue 1
Confusion surrounding issue one is not by accident. Opponents understand that confused people won’t vote. They would rather abstain than vote wrong. In fact, one of my colleagues told me of an elderly lady who voted no by mistake and was overwhelmed in tears when she discovered her mistake. That’s why the liberal opposition is lacing their language with conservative soundbites in a red state. A little clarity will help all sides know how to vote according to their own values on this issue that was bipartisan only a few years ago...

Op-Ed: A Person is a Person
The beauty of the Personhood Act is in its brevity. For far too long, necessity has required that we tinker around the edges while attempting to preserve life. The now-defunct Roe v. Wade decision established artificial roadblocks to fulfilling the promise of the American Dream to every individual. This meant that we could only address the most blatant violations of our original law such as partial birth abortion, which took a child’s life midway through delivery...
The personhood of the individual from the moment they are created as a unique person is established in the premiere laws of the land as well as in contemporary science. House Bill 704 neither bestows nor confers personhood. Personhood is not ours to grant. We can only acknowledge or ignore the plain truth. The operational word in the Personhood Act is “recognize.”
“The state of Ohio shall recognize the personhood, and protect the constitutional rights, of all unborn human individuals from the moment of conception.”

That individual, distinguished by their very own DNA, deserves every advantage and every protection of the law including the right to life that every other human being is entitled to. From the moment of fertilization that zygote, embryo or whichever depersonalizing term you choose to use is not merely a potential human but rather human with potential."
